Terms and safety

Account acceptance

Every signed-in account must accept the current Terms and Safety version before using authenticated app features. Alcove records the account, terms version, acceptance time, and mobile-app source on the server. A material future revision may require acceptance again.

Use good judgment outdoors

You are responsible for deciding whether a place, route, time, activity, and condition are appropriate for you. Do not trespass, enter closed areas, ignore warnings, or use Alcove as your only navigation or safety source.

Accessibility information

Accessibility and access signals are planning aids based on available data and community input. They do not guarantee that a route, facility, or location will meet an individual visitor's needs. Confirm current conditions with the official land manager when access is important to your visit.

Not medical care

Alcove supports mindfulness, restorative outdoor planning, and nature connection. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent health conditions and is not a substitute for professional medical or mental health care.

Community contributions and conduct

Submit only content you have the right to share. Places, photos, field notes, ratings, and sound metrics may be reviewed, edited, rejected, removed, retained, or anonymized to protect safety, accuracy, rights, and product integrity. Do not harass, impersonate, threaten, exploit, discriminate against, or expose private information about another person. Use the Report action attached to community content or friend activity, use Report or Block from a person’s Friends-screen menu, or email support@alcoveoutdoors.com. Blocking removes that relationship and its activity from the blocker’s experience.

Friends and activity

No invitation is required to join Alcove. Invite only people you know or trust. Confirmed invitations may extend free Discover, Map, and planning-tool access, but they do not unlock Friend Activity or Stars. Friend Activity requires Alcove Pro before it can be viewed. Friend activity, ratings, favorites, recommendations, and shared lists are for discovery and planning, not pressure, rankings, or unsafe competition. Contact matching is optional and should be used only with an address book you are authorized to access.

Subscriptions and promotional access

Alcove Pro subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled through the App Store or Google Play. Accounts created before public launch are marked for a 30%-off founding beta-tester offering when that store product is available. Eligibility is stored by Alcove, while the exact localized price—including the applicable beta discount—duration, billing period, and any introductory terms are controlled by and displayed in the store before purchase. Customers can use Restore Purchases and manage or cancel subscriptions through their store account. Cancellation normally preserves access through the paid period unless the store issues a refund or immediate cancellation. Deleting an Alcove account does not cancel store billing. Administrator-issued promotional access is not a purchase; it may expire at the stated time or be revoked. Promotional access is never sold through invitation links.

Historical guided-session and sound data

The current beta has no Guide or Relax tab and no microphone or sound-recording entry point. Historical aggregate sound observations and guided-session logs from earlier beta builds are not clinical data. Relative dBFS values are not calibrated environmental dBA, and earlier beta capture deleted temporary recordings without uploading raw audio.

Night and stargazing features

Dark-sky information, Bortle estimates, forecast fields, Sun and Moon calculations, planetary Kp, and Alcove planning scores are planning aids and may be incomplete or out of date. They are not live on-site observations or safety guarantees. Check official access, alerts, weather, smoke, fire restrictions, road conditions, moon and daylight timing, and local safety information before nighttime travel.

GeoSonic research

GeoSonic is a proposed research project. Public field work requires permission, legal and privacy review, site notice, validation, and an approved deployment plan. Early instruments will not be represented as certified regulatory sound-level meters.
