Explore the saved nationwide catalog, including places with short or missing descriptions. Colorado and California are priorities for improving information, not limits on where you can browse. You can contribute place information to help others plan. Alcove does not promise complete nationwide coverage.
Context you can question
Sources and uncertainty belong alongside the recommendation. Conditions, access, and closures can change; the responsible land manager is your final check.
Privacy with purpose
Optional permissions support specific actions. The website’s optional sound meter runs only after you press Start and grant microphone permission. It measures relative levels locally and uploads no audio or measurements. Read our privacy policy.

Alcove grew from a student project and a curiosity about how places feel. It brings together outdoor experience, photography, programming, and engineering.
Alongside the app, the proposed GeoSonic Sound Network explores how aggregate sound information could make outdoor planning more useful. It remains a research project.

How do I get access?
Download Alcove and request account access in the app. Account approval is required for member features. Buying Pro does not bypass approval.
How do friend invitations work?
Invitations from approved members are intended for one verified email address and expire after seven days. An eligible invited friend can be approved automatically. Forwarding the link does not grant anyone else access. Check release status for invitation availability in the published app.
Where can I explore?
Browse existing places across the saved nationwide catalog under the same account-approval requirements. Some places have short or missing descriptions; members can help by contributing information. Colorado and California are current improvement priorities, not browsing boundaries. Suggest coverage or information improvements by emailing support@alcoveoutdoors.com. Suggestions help guide priorities; they do not guarantee a completion date. Confirm access with official sources before a visit.
