Current release

Version 1.0.1 (build 30) was released on the App Store on September 9, 2026. Later native improvements, including build 32, remain in testing and are not part of this public release. The browser version is updated separately at Open Alcove.

How access works

1. Download the app and verify your sign-in email.
2. Request approval in the app, or redeem a valid invitation issued to that exact email.
3. Once approved, complete onboarding and explore the available places.

Personal invitations cannot grant access to someone else if forwarded. Invitation controls depend on the version you use. Available personal invitations are bound to the recipient’s verified email; an approved sender can invite an eligible friend without creating a public approval link.

What to expect

Alcove uses the saved nationwide catalog, including locations with short or missing descriptions. Colorado and California are priorities for improving information, not limits on browsing. Coverage and detail vary, and no state is promised complete. Members can contribute place information through available app controls or email support@alcoveoutdoors.com. Contributions are reviewed before changing public information. Suggestions inform future work and do not promise a date. Catalog display and contribution controls can vary by installed app version. Website improvements can arrive before the next iPhone update. Weather, accessibility and night-sky estimates are planning context, not guarantees. Check official land-manager information before visiting.

Android

Android is not publicly released. Existing invited testers should follow their specific testing instructions.
